All this regio-nationalist posturing this week is absurd. Just what America needs, after generations of imperialist aggression and violence against other nations, is to have a psychological excuse to wrap ourselves in the holy mantle of victimhood while ramping up our war-mongering.
The fact is, by any strategic measure, Osama bin Laden is winning his war. The U.S. is bankrupted, our influence is waning, and the pro-American governments across the Middle East are toppling one by one.
